Our Mandate:
"to enhance the independence of people with disabilities"
History
Yesterday...
The Northern Alberta Crippled Children's Fund (NACCF) was established in 1947 by the Associated Canadian Travellers (ACT) as a means to provide funds to assist people with disabilities in the communities of northern Alberta.
Our name was changed to the Children’s Ability Fund – recognizing abilities rather than disabilities. Our name may have changed but our focus remains the same - we continue to provide an essential service to the community.
Today... WE CELEBRATE OUR 60th BIRTHDAY
As one of Alberta's longest serving charities - Our mandate is "to enhance the independence of people with disabilities"
by providing specialized equipment.
To reach our goal, funds are generated through an annual campaign
and special projects. Additional donations are received through
our planned giving program and may be directed toward the General
Fund, the Endowment Fund or the Bursary Fund.
Funds are used to purchase technologically advanced equipment for
people with disabilities to assist them with the everyday tasks that others take for
granted.
Individual requests include
equipment such as:
- Mobility devices
- Communication aids
- Other technology
Community groups are eligible to apply for funding for major projects .
Some projects we have funded include:
- Camp sponsorship at Camp He Ho Ha
- Snoezelen Room in Westlock, Whitecourt and Edmonton
- Specialized Equipment for the PALS Lending Library
- Accessible doorways at the Camrose Community Living Assoc
- Pool lift in Rocky Mountain House
Special Programs funding is available for special programs including:

Tomorrow
We look forward to continuing to "enhance the independence of people
with disabilities" throughout northern Alberta - providing funding
for education, specialized equipment and community support.
Of course, we can't do it alone. We need your help...
